What Claire can help with

Claire holds regular Advice Surgeries at locations across the Devizes Constituency to offer support for Constituents.  To book an appointment please call the Devizes Constituency office on 01380 729358 or email me at claire.perry.mp@parliament.uk and please provide your name, full address and postcode and telephone number.  It is helpful to have details about your concerns, and sight of any existing correspondence with relevant agencies.

It is often possible to progress your concerns without needing to wait to meet with Claire.  Listed in the menu on the left are some of the specific issues that Claire can help with.  Each section includes information on what is needed to make progress.

Generally, an MP helps with those matters in which central government is responsible.

Constituents often take a problem to their MP because they do not know who else can help them.  MPs do not have any jurisdiction over local Council decisions, including planning.  Where your problem really concerns the council rather than central government, then you should contact your local council or councillor.   Your local library or town hall should be able to provide you with your councillor’s name and contact information, or click below to find your council website –

MPs are also not able to help you in private disputes with other individuals nor do they have any jurisdiction with decisions made by courts.

Claire always aims to respond to correspondence from constituents as quickly as possible.  Every day Claire receives dozens of campaign emails from people across the Devizes Constituency, on a wide variety of issues, as part of organised writing campaigns and aims to reply within ten working days.

If you are unsure which category is most relevant to you, please use the following basic checklist of information needed:

  • Name and address of all parties involved
  • National Insurance Number
  • Any paperwork and references that you feel are relevant

IMPORTANT: When contacting Claire you must give your full address and postcode so we can make sure you are a Devizes constituent. Parliamentary protocol prohibits Claire from acting for constituents who are represented by another MP and delaying receipt of this information could result in a serious delay to your case.
