Claire Perry MP was delighted to meet with a team of apprentices from QinetiQ, the world-beating defence engineering company based at Boscombe Down. Claire congratulated the team on getting to the final of the Brathay Apprentice Challenge, which tests apprentices on their team building, leadership, logistical and communication skills.
During the event at Wellington Academy in Tidworth, the team spoke enthusiastically with students aspiring to careers in engineering, about the cutting-edge development opportunities and flexible training, whilst earning a salary, offered by apprenticeships at QinetiQ.
Claire said,
I am a huge advocate of apprenticeships as they enable young people to get fabulous training and a salary, whilst learning ‘on the job’. The team from QinetiQ were incredibly inspiring and a brilliant advertisement for young people considering a career in science and engineering.

Degree level apprenticeships are now also available and are a real alternative to a University course, and I would encourage all young people to consider apprenticeships.
