Claire Perry O’Neill Marks a Milestone for the Devizes Integrated Care Centre
Rt Hon Claire Perry O’Neill MP and Dr Richard Sandford-Hill, Chair of Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group celebrated the recent approval of the business case for the Devizes Integrated Care Centre (ICC) at the Marshall Road site.
The £10m new centre which is to be built on land adjacent to the Treatment Centre in Marshall Road will provide modern, fit-for-purpose healthcare premises for the people of the Devizes community area, as well as 50 new homes some of which will be reserved for healthcare keyworkers.
Claire Perry O’Neill who has campaigned for this new facility since her election in 2010, and has been closely involved in the project group, helping make the case for funding with Health Ministers, said:
“Working with healthcare professionals to improve our local services has been my No.1 priority since before I was elected and was in fact, the subject of my first-ever debate in the House of Commons. Whilst some local media said that I was “tilting at windmills”, I was determined to make this happen, and together with many local people, I was delighted when NHS Ministers agreed to make funding available for the new Centre and construction is planned to begin next year.”
Dr Richard Sandford-Hill said:
“It’s great to be able to report that we continue to make progress on the delivery of the Devizes Centre. The ICC will give the people of Devizes and surrounding areas, access to an expanded range of primary care services from modern, purpose-built premises. Patients will be able to see a network of professionals, all working together across the health, social care and voluntary sector spectrum to provide effective and efficient care in the community.
All being well, we should start work in 2020 and open the new Devizes ICC in late 2021 or early 2022.”
