Claire Perry O’Neill Welcomes the Establishment of the Office of Veterans’ Affairs
Rt Hon Claire Perry O’Neill MP is very pleased at the announcement that an Office of Veterans’ Affairs has been established by the Government which will work to deliver better outcomes for veterans, particularly in areas such as mental health, employment and housing.
The Office of Veterans’ Affairs will:
- Pull together all functions of government, and better co-ordinate charity sector provision;
- Ensure that every single veteran and their family knows where to turn to access support when required;
- Make better use of data to understand veterans’ needs and where gaps in provision exist;
- Improve the perception of veterans.
Claire Perry O’Neill said:
“I am very proud to represent the thousands of service families who live across the Constituency, and the many veterans who choose to make their permanent home in the local area when they leave the armed forces.
I know from my own constituency casework that there is more to do to ensure that support for veterans is fully joined-up, and I welcome the Government’s commitment to ensure world-class provision of life-long veterans’ care services and that the contribution that veterans make to our nation is fully recognised.”
